DOK Leipzig 2015

Healthy Workplaces Film Award

The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) presented its seventh Healthy Workplaces Film Award at the 58th International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film (DOK Leipzig) in November 2015.

The Healthy Workplaces Jury found a documentary film - WORK FOR ONE DAY - that was entertaining, respectfully observing what was happening in a narrow very compact space, and recognised the dignity that comes from work, especially realised from protagonists who had lost it.

The Jury also commended an incredibly well-made animation film - AUTOMATIC FITNESS - about our society where work has reduced humans to become working machines in the current obsession to do more with less.

These two films were related: one about having no work, the other about being overworked. The Jury made a joint award because the two films were complimentary and supported each other, and should be shown together.

The Healthy Workplaces Award 2015 was divided equally between AUTOMATIC FITNESS directed by Alejandra Tomei and Alberto Couceiro; and WORK FOR ONE DAY directed by Rita Bakacs.
